Arthur Ashe played at Wimbledon for the first time, and joined the U.S. Davis Cup Team. A woman he didn’t even know handed him $800 for a plane ticket to England, where Ashe had been invited to play in the famous Wimbledon tournaments. Ashe made that trip to England at age twenty and it opened his eyes to a whole new world.
